  • Two museums are available for you during the ICAANE.

    1- Lugdunum Museum and Roman Theaters is the perfect symbiosis of an archaeological site that is part of a UNESCO World Heritage setting with unique architecture and exceptional collections.

    • Museum: Tuesday to Friday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m./ Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    2- Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon
    Discover 5,000 years of art history at the Museum of Fine Arts, from the Egypt to the modern art of Matisse and Picasso.

  • Library visit

  • When the library of Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée was founded in 1995, it brought together the laboratories' collections in a single location. It encompasses all the themes of the Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée (MOM): the study of ancient societies in all their facets, from prehistory to the medieval world, in the Mediterranean countries, the Near and Middle East, and the region surrounding Lyon. The library welcomes you to explore an exhibition that traces its history and the development of its collections, with 100,000 volumes and journals available across five floors.
     
    • Visits are free. You will receive a document at the reception desk to assist you through this discovery.
    • Opening hours: Monday 1 p.m.-6 p.m. / Tuesday to Thursday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

  • Excursions

  • Four visits are available with the help of archaeology student association Stud'Archéo. Visits are between 1.5 to 2 hours. All visits are on foot, and participants are kindly asked to make their own way to the designated meeting points.

    1- Antiquity : From the Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls to Fourvière
    Join us and to discover Lyon’s antic city through a “Rando’Archéo” made and hosted by archaeology students! Follow this trek through the Gallo-Roman's remains of Lugdunum (Odeon, aqueduct,…) and get immersed in the city’s history. A lively and informative walk thought for everyone.

    2- Croix-Rousse: Traboules and Canuts History Tour This visit will make you travel through the Croix-Rousse’s rich history. From antiquity to the Modern Era. Discover the traboules (historic passageways), the history of the silk workers through its neighbourhood and the Canuts buildings, churches, the amphitheatre, and the “gros-cailloux. We will also talk about the “arêtes de poisson” and the Rosa Mir garden.

    3- Amphitheatre Tour A visit focused solely on the Amphitheatre of the Three Gauls ( in the Lugdunum theatre). Explore this symbolic site of Lugdunum, who witnessed public shows and the first Christian martyrs. A lively and informative walk that accommodates everyone.

    4- Medieval  Lyon: A chronological journey through ‘Vieux Lyon’ This visit will walk you through the various monuments and landmarks testifying of Lyon’s history between the XIIe and XVe centuries. A time when the city was an important religious and commercial center. You’ll discover :
    • The Saint-Jean-Baptiste’s Cathedral and its famous astronomical clock
    • The medieval “Traboules” in Saint-Jean’s street
    • The square “du Change”, center of famous medieval fairs
    • Saint-Paul’s church and the Italian merchants’ district
    - Meeting point: In front of the Vieux-Lyon Metro Station (Line D), 69005 Lyon
